Morphological characterization and elastic response of a granular material

چکیده

The granular structures of energetic materials made hexogene particles embedded in a matrix are characterized using combination flotation, light-scattering measurements and micro-computed tomography images. complementary nature the three characterization techniques, when employed with this type material, allows one to derive accurate estimates for grain size distribution particle bulk density distribution. Three types formulations, same weight fraction but markedly different grains morphology shock-sensitivity properties, addressed. granulometry intra-granular porosities differ from material another. spatial dispersion by scale-dependent local density, also varies formulation Specifically, we show that samples containing elongated display “abnormal” variance scalings as result long-range correlations packing structure. use virtual microstructures predict mechanical properties is addressed discussed.
